The view through my lens is constantly changing. This blog is my reflection on the view...
What is it about little boys that makes it necessary to climb? We went on a walk through the woods...and Zeke and Isaac went from tree to tree to tree..
I grew up in San Pedro, but moved away in my early 20's. Every time I come home it strikes me how different my life is because I didn't stay. That's not a statement of good or bad -- its just different. I've lost touch with the ebb and flow of the docks and what's going on with the ILWU -- a HUGE part of living in San Pedro. San Pedro is a union town. A strong union town. Being part of a teacher's union that isn't as cohesive and strong it makes me wonder what it would be like if the ILWU ran my local union. I'm laughing as I write this because it seems so absurd.
I don't know about you, but it seems to me that history can be SO boring...or it can be exciting and illuminating. This past weekend I got to visit Ft. Stielacoom's Christmas reenactment. It caused me to reflect on how much simpler life was back then. People didn't own a lot of belongings. I love gadgets. But am I really better off with them? What a lovely sound hearing carolers celebrate the reason for the season.

The view I'm looking at lately isn't through my camera...but someone else's camera. I've been playing around with working on a family tree. As I've been going through lots and lots of photos my grandmother passed down, I came across an album she had marked simply "my great-grandmother's album". That makes this the album of my great-great-great-great-grandmother, Keziah Ewing. It's too bad we don't know their names. But here are some of the pictures. If you want to see more, click this link.
